Fishing on Stillwater Lake

Camp Minsi;s Stillwater Lake covers approximately 315-acres. Located on the Pocono Plateau at an elevation of 1,811 feet, the lake is home to a variety of freshwater fish and other aquatic creatures. Aside from Fishing Merit Badge, the summer camp program offers ample angling opportunities for Scouts who enjoy fishing.

Lake Stillwater holds Smallmouth Bass, Perch, Crappie, Pickerel, Sunfish and Catfish. The tailwaters of the lake compose Tunkhannock Creek and offer Brook and Rainbow trout fishing as well.

Scouts can enjoy fishing our waters throughout the week. However it is required that Scouts follow all rules and regulations set forth by the PA Fish and Boat Commission, which means that anyone over the age of 16 must carry a current Pennsylvania Fishing License. Also, with few exceptions, our policy on the lake is "Catch & Release".

Camp Minsi does have a limited supply of fishing equiptment available to borrow from the quartermaster; and a moderate selection of bait and other supplies are also available in the trading post. However it is highly recommended that Scouts interested in fishing bring their own poles and tackle to camp.

For more information on Stillwater Lake's fishing opportunities and to find out about the "hot spots" on the lake, be sure to talk to the Ecology-Conservation staff at the E-con lodge throughout your week.
